A turn-based RPG set in a jungle ruin. You and a party of adventurers are on a mission to catalog each room and report back to your adventuring guild, the Company of Strangers. The party is forced to take shelter within the ruin to avoid a jungle predator, and are swept into an interior chamber. From there, the player must explore the ruin to find a way out or unlock its secrets. Targeting HTML5, this game is intended to be a tight retro experience reminiscent of a Dungeons and Dragons adventure. I am aiming for the game to be completable in just a couple of play sessions, but with multiple routes and endings for repeat play-throughs. Currently in the prototyping stages with a playable demo build available. Building on what I learned from the Fractured Domain game jam project, the game will feature a fast and simple combat system from the player’s perspective, with complex enemy and ally behavior behind the scenes. UI and gameplay mechanics are being designed for easy porting to mobile and/or console platforms. Placeholder sprites are from the Time Fantasy collection by finalbossblues on itch.io. Inspired by Lunar Star Story, Solasta: Crown of the Magister, and Deltarune.
